Life as a Splendid Torch

Alex lent me a book to see in the New Year.

The quote at the front resonated with something deep inside me:

Life is no brief candle for me. It is a sort of splendid
torch which I have got hold of for the moment, and I want
to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it
on to future generations.

George Bernard Shaw

That is how I want to live my life in 2010.

Each moment as an opportunity to burn brightly…

Every week as seven sacred days….

A mission for every month…

I was curious to know more about George Bernard Shaw so I looked him up:

    Lived from 1956 – 1950 (94 years!!!)
Born 2 years after Oscar Wilde but lived twice as long…
Irish Playwright known for his ironic wit
    Plays including: The Doctor’s Dilemma
Essays including: The Intelligent Woman’s Guide to Socialism and Capitalism
    Posthumously created the Shavian Alphabet
